Climate chief says give up meat

Methane farting cows and pigs are destroying the world!

First off, I didn't even know there was such a thing as a climate chief. Second, this guy is nuts. Why should we give up meat when we could just all get rid of our gaseous pets and rid the world of dogs, cats and gerbils? Come to think of it, I'd be for killing all of the other methane farting animals if we could keep beef.

I'm just joking of course but why do these climate worshipers automatically default to stopping an activity that they (generally speaking of course) do not practice or even frown upon . . . such as eating cows and pigs?

Funny how that works.

Here is the article about the silly climate chief

Deer wins bet with his deer friends

A courageous deer recently won a very daring bet with his other deer friends about jumping through a window to a local metro dinner and getting out alive in less than 15 seconds.

He knew exactly where to go to get out and won the bet easily.

My favorite reporter questions during this segment “do we know where the deer came from?” and “do we know where the deer is now?”. Too funny! Answers are “outside” and “outside” . . . I think . . . unless the deer is . . . never mind.

A needed break from the Health Care debate

Anyone want to adopt these two dogs? I know it's shocking but neither one has been adopted to date.

What? Socialism will raise taxes?

"You can't tell us how you're going to pay for this," Rathie said of Obama's health care overhaul. "The only way you're going to get that money is raise our taxes."

"You are absolutely right," Obama said. "I can't cover another 46 million people for free. I can't do that. We're going to have to find money from somewhere."

That's a shocker! LOL!

1961: Ronald Reagan Speaks Out Against Socialized Medicine

Ronald Reagan still speaks today. I loved that man. God rest his soul. Where are the Ronald Reagans of today?

Whatever your thoughts on RR, this speech is a great history lesson.

My favorite quote: "Governments don't tax for the money they need. Governments find a need for the money they get". The only difference now days is that Governments find needs and spend money they don't have but will tax us or our children for later.

One more thing. There are only two reasons we need to state as to why we oppose socialized medicine in America (forget these silly "death panels"):

1) We cannot afford it, especially now (recession + huge budget deficits and more to come).

2) The Government historically does very little well compared to private enterprise. Seriously, they can't even operate the cash for clunkers program. They can't even run the Postal Service so that it breaks even every year. Why in the world then would we think they can do a good job in something so personal as medicine?

Now, please open your mind and listen to some words of wisdom below.

Be afraid . . . be very afraid

Obama seeks to eliminate private insurance (over time) in favor of a single payer system. Socialism, here we come.

Nationalized Health Care

Congressmen and women throughout the country are finding large angry crowds at their town meetings this month over the Obama Health Care plan which seeks to socialize medical insurance in this country. As I've said before, this would be a devastating blow to our country and once in place would be almost impossible to remove. This video is of Sen. Arlan Spector at one of his town hall meetings. Let's hope we see more of these throughout the month and that our elected representatives get the message.

Joe Biden is so smart

Joe Biden: ‘We Have to Go Spend Money to Keep From Going Bankrupt’

Vice President Joe Biden told people attending an AARP town hall meeting that unless the Democrat-supported health care plan becomes law the nation will go bankrupt and that the only way to avoid that fate is for the government to spend more money.

“And folks look, AARP knows and the people with me here today know, the president knows, and I know, that the status quo is simply not acceptable,” Biden said at the event on Thursday in Alexandria, Va. “It’s totally unacceptable. And it’s completely unsustainable. Even if we wanted to keep it the way we have it now. It can’t do it financially.”

“We’re going to go bankrupt as a nation,” Biden said.

Men in Power

This is great! It's about time men get one of these "woe is me" groups. Men have been told for far to long that they need to be less manly, that they are discriminative while being discriminated against, and that they just plain suck for being born the more masculine gender.
_______________
From the Chicago Tribune:

A group of University of Chicago students think it's time the campus focused more on its men.

A third-year student from Lake Bluff has formed Men in Power, a student organization that promises to help men get ahead professionally. But the group's emergence has been controversial, with some critics charging that its premise is misogynistic.

Others say it's about time men are championed, noting that recent job losses hit men harder and that women earn far more bachelor's and master's degrees than do men . . .

From Politico:

Arlen Specter infuriated Senate Republicans when he bolted from their party last week. Now he’s alienated just about everybody in the Senate Democratic caucus, too.

Yea!

Sen. Spector finally made it official today, after years of voting with Democrats, and finally came out of the closet so to speak and announced he is now . . . gasp . .. a Democrat.

Yeah, it gives Obama his filibuster proof Senate but in effect he really already had one.

Spector and a few other RHINO (Republican in name only) Senators have been a thorn in the Republican party's side for years by always voting with the opposition when it most mattered (Spector was one of three Republicans to vote for Obama's stimulus/budget buster/tax hike bill).

Welcome home Sen. Spector and good luck winning in the 2010 election since party switchers don't usually fair to well.

I can think of one in this state (State Senator Dean Johnson) who switched for the same reason Spector did . . . because he knew he wouldn't win his party's nomination the next election cycle.

He lost the next election just like Spector will.

Swine Flu . . . not the first time we've seen this

Headline: March 24, 1976: Ford Orders Swine-Flu Shots for All

Full article here

Pretty interesting considering all the media on this the past week.

Not to mention this little fact: Worldwide, seasonal flu kills between 250,000 and 500,000 people in an average year but the new strain worries experts because it spreads rapidly between humans and there is no vaccine for it.

So far 149 are dead in Mexico. No deaths elsewhere yet. I guess only time will tell but after SARS and the bird flu media blitzes one cannot help but be skeptical.

Headline of the week: "Teacher puts poop in kids backpack"

No joke.

YAKIMA, WA (KIMA) - An unexpected surprise in their son's backpack caught some Yakima Washington parents off guard. It was human waste, with a note attached from the boy's teacher. And the school isn't denying that's what happened.

Jeneane Garafalo is full of hate (so is that dimwit Obberman)

This interview reveals much about how liberals in their self centered, arrogant, all knowing attitude think.

This woman has truly lost it.

This comment from another web site I read sums it up perfectly:

The Right thinks: that people on the Left are wrong.

The Left thinks: that people on the Right are racists. Have medically defective brains. Are all wife-beaters/oppresive to their wives. Intellectually dependent on hatred. And they have nothing else to rely on. Nothing.

So tell me, which side is more "tolerant" and "open-minded"? Which side hates those that they don't agree with?

And this from Ace at Ace of Spades:

AIG bonuses

While the $165 million in AIG bonuses is certainly an outrage the real outrage should be on how much money our government is spending on bailing out AIG and others.

AIG received $170 billion has in bailout money.

To put that in perspective the $165 million in bonuses is only 1/10th of 1 percent of the total amount of tax dollars given to AIG.

.1%!

The other outrage should be that the President and Sen. Dodd, who were some of first the people screaming about the bonuses, are the very ones who put the language in the stimulus bill that allowed for the bonuses to happen!

At first, Dodd denied it:

On Tuesday, Dodd told FOX News that he didn't add the exemption.

"When the language went to the conference and came back, there was different language," he said then. "I can tell you this much, when my language left the Senate, it did not include it. When it came back, it did."

Then he admitted that he did add the exemption but that the President's Treasury officials forced him to do it:
In a dramatic reversal Wednesday, Sen. Chris Dodd confessed to adding language to a spending cap in the stimulus bill last month that specifically excluded executive bonuses included in contracts signed before the bill's passage. Dodd, D-Conn., told FOX News that Treasury officials forced him to make the change.

The orchestrated outrage about the bonuses is, IMO, a smoke screen or distraction to keep the taxpayers from realizing what they REALLY should be outraged about: the fact that our leaders have acted recklessly, irresponsibly and quite possibly corruptly.

When not fishing we played quite a bit of 4 handed poker. We mostly played sng's but take a look at this rare hand from a cash game of 5 card draw.

Ice fishing on Lake of the Woods was pretty good. We caught about 50 walleye/sauger between four of us the first day and kept 14 of them. Day 2 was much slower but we still ended up with 5 or 6 keepers. That's me and my Dad with the first days catch.

AG Holder: US is nation of cowards on racial matters

This is truly an amazing statement from our new Attorney General.

Not only to we have a black President and a black Supreme Court Justice but we also have our first black Attorney General.

Attorney General Eric Holder.

But yet we are a nation of cowards when it comes to racial matters!?!

Holder said, but "we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race."
What's there to talk about? I'm white, your black and we are both human beings created in God's image. Ok, good talk. Thanks.

But wait that's not all.

Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.
I guess we need to the government to intervene and arrange our social calendars in an affirmative action manner so that we spend more time with others who are of a different race.

That makes sense I guess.

I mean our social life is pretty much the only thing the government doesn't stick it's nose into in our lives. They might as tell us how to socialize as well.

Unreal. A nation of "cowards"?

From Hope, Change & Future to Doom & Gloom

Pres. Obama's attitude sure has changed in the past few months. He campaigned on the three main themes of "Hope", "Change" and "Future" and now all he talks about is how we are doomed unless we ramp up government spending to record levels.

Apparently trickle down (aka Supply side) economics only work when you increase the money supply by increasing government spending (rather than by cutting taxes).

The same Liberals who decried President Reagan's trickle down economics via tax cuts are now promoting trickle down economics via government spending.

The problem is that the bailout bill is not a true stimulus of the economy and it will cause mass inflation in a few years. At least when you cut taxes and allow individuals and businesses to keep more of what they earn you are naturally stimulating the economy and letting the free market work.

If the politicians really want to help this economy and make sure this doesn't happen again they need to do two things IMO:

1) Regulate the mortgage industry correctly once and for all. Only allow fixed rate mortgages. Get rid of ARMS, Balloons and reverse mortgages. Have strict guidelines for the loans purchased by companies that sell them as securities (like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac) on the market. Do not allow them to buy crap loans. If crap loans are not allowed to be sold on the market they will cease to exist since the loan originator definitely does not want to be stuck with them.

2) Cut taxes across the board.

If our politicians do these two things and stay the out the way this economy will recover and probably faster than if you were to artificially pump $800 billion or so into the economy.

But Obama knows that if things do not stabilize or improve within 3 years he is done so he is doing whatever he can to stay in power even if it means short term gain and long term loss.

The saddest thing about all this is our poor kids are the ones who are going to pay for Obama (and Bush's) mistakes in all this. They are the ones who will be stuck with all of this debt and a much bigger government. There will be "change" but probably not the type of "change" people had in mind when they elected this President. Or maybe it is.

Here's another good article from the WSJ on all this found here

INDONESIAN Islamic hardliners have called for a ban on international organisations the Rotary Club and the Lions Club, saying they are part of a Zionist conspiracy, reports said today.
The People's Ulema Forum (FUU) said the clubs were "infidel'' fronts for Freemasonry and the world Zionist movement and threatened Islam in the world's most populous Muslim country.

What's this? . . . A politician with common sense?

Bits and pieces from an article in the West Central Tribune (Willmar, MN):

For Oberstar, recovery bill what’s needed; for Peterson, bill does little to generate jobs in stagnant economy

By Don Davis ddavis@wctrib.com

ST. PAUL — An economic stimulus package that would send $4.5 billion to Minnesota deeply divided two of the state’s most powerful politicians.

“It is a wide-ranging investment in America,” U.S. Rep. Jim Oberstar said.

“This would go against everything I have been for,” U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson countered.

Peterson joined 10 other Democrats and all House Republicans in voting against the measure that passed 244-188. He said that passing no bill would be better than the one the House backed.

“We need to let this thing (economy) bottom out and then spend the money to fix it,” Peterson said, adding that is not what people want to hear.

The bill heads to the Senate next week, where Peterson predicted it will inflate to more than $900 billion, and is due on President Obama’s desk by mid-February.
Peterson said the bill does not do enough to create jobs. He said it should have focused on “programs directly resulting in job creation and infrastructure projects, and for unemployment compensation and food stamps.”
His biggest complaint is that the $819 billion, plus $350 billion in loan interest payments, just add to the country’s debt.
“We are borrowing this money from China,” he said.
Eventually, Peterson added, China will stop lending money to the United States, and interest rates will soar.
and this is classic:
“Maybe I shouldn’t have taken economics in college,” he said. “It would have been easier to go along with this.”

So true. Thank you Rep. Peterson. You've given me a small ray of hope that there are still politicians who think and do what is right.

Limbaugh - American Hero :>)

Limbaugh Responds to Obama [Byron York]

According to an account in the New York Post, President Barack Obama yesterday told Republican leaders, "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done." With George W. Bush now off the stage, it may be that Obama and some of his fellow Democrats view Limbaugh, and not John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, or any other elected official, as the true leader of the Republican opposition. This morning I asked Rush for his thoughts on all this, and here is his response:

There are two things going on here. One prong of the Great Unifier's plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan. He is hoping that these Republicans will also publicly denounce me and thus marginalize me. And who knows? Are ideological and philosophical ties enough to keep the GOP loyal to their voters? Meanwhile, the effort to foist all blame for this mess on the private sector continues unabated when most of the blame for this current debacle can be laid at the feet of the Congress and a couple of former presidents. And there is a strategic reason for this.

Secondly, here is a combo quote from the meeting:

"If we don't get this done we (the Democrats) could lose seats and I could lose re-election. But we can't let people like Rush Limbaugh stall this. That's how things don't get done in this town."

To make the argument about me instead of his plan makes sense from his perspective. Obama's plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party, in the same way FDR's New Deal established majority power for 50 years of Democrat rule, and it would also simultaneously seriously damage any hope of future tax cuts. It would allow a majority of American voters to guarantee no taxes for themselves going forward. It would burden the private sector and put the public sector in permanent and firm control of the economy. Put simply, I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing "eternal" power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy. If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of this TRILLION dollar debacle.

Obama was angry that Merrill Lynch used $1.2 million of TARP money to remodel an executive suite. Excuse me, but didn't Merrill have to hire a decorator and contractor? Didn't they have to buy the new furnishings? What's the difference in that and Merrill loaning that money to a decorator, contractor and goods supplier to remodel Warren Buffet's office? Either way, stimulus in the private sector occurs. Are we really at the point where the bad PR of Merrill getting a redecorated office in the process is reason to smear them? How much money will the Obamas spend redecorating the White House residence? Whose money will be spent? I have no problem with the Obamas redoing the place. It is tradition. 600 private jets flown by rich Democrats flew into the Inauguration. That's fine but the auto execs using theirs is a crime? In both instances, the people on those jets arrived in Washington wanting something from Washington, not just good will.

If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of the trillion dollar debacle.

One more thing, Byron. Your publication and website have documented Obama's ties to the teachings of Saul Alinksy while he was community organizing in Chicago. Here is Rule 13 of Alinksy's Rules for Radicals:

"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

On the flip side . . .

Bush's Achievements
Ten things the president got right.
by Fred Barnes
You can find the full article here

In Summary:
1) Standing up to the Global Warming alarmists and let the facts catch up with the hysteria.
2) Enhanced interrogation of terrorists
3) Rebuilding of presidential authority, which was badly degraded in the era of Vietnam, Watergate, and Bill Clinton.
4) Bush's unswerving support for Israel
5) His fifth success was No Child Left Behind (NCLB), the education reform bill cosponsored by America's most prominent liberal Democratic senator Edward Kennedy.
6) Sixth, Bush declared in his second inaugural address in 2005 that American foreign policy (at least his) would henceforth focus on promoting democracy
around the world.
7) The seventh achievement is the Medicare prescription drug benefit, enacted in 2003. It's not only wildly popular; it has cost less than expected by triggering competition among drug companies.
8) Then there were John Roberts and Sam Alito. In putting them on the Supreme Court and naming Roberts chief justice.
9) Bush's ninth achievement has been widely ignored. He strengthened relations with east Asian democracies (Japan, South Korea, Australia) without causing a rift with China.
10) Finally, a no-brainer: the surge

Understatement of the Year

George Bush: "I readily concede I chucked aside my free-market principles when I was told ... the situation we were facing could be worse than the Great Depression," Bush said. "(But) we've taken extraordinary measures to deal with frozen credit markets (that) have helped thaw the credit market."

I'd say. Nothing like injecting more socialism into the mix to make things worse and last longer than they would have (Inflating the money supply, having the government take partial ownership of private companies, bailing out corrupt power brokers, and still not reforming any laws to make sure this can't happen again).

Now we'll have masss inflation to look forward to as well as a failing global economy.

Of course, things are so screwed up that might have happened anyway.

2008 Results

Haven't posted for quite awhile but will try and give an update at least every couple weeks or so.

Here are my final numbers for 2008:

-$16.28 in cash games.
+469.20 in sng's (cashed in 48% overall with a 9.4% ROI).
-11.80 in mtt sng's.
-76.77 in mtt tournements
+214.28 in bonus's

TOTAL PROFIT = $538.35.

I didn't really play as much this year as I have in the past and had a only a small profit until I started playing double up tournements on Cake. In last four months of the year I cashed in 53%, 62%, 59%, and 54% of my sngs with ROI's ranging from 4% to 19%. The only thing I hate about Cake is paying $35 to cash out which is rediculous since other sites are free. But the play is so bad and rake back ends up paying for the cash out costs.
